Can you match the siding and shingle colours of my house?
Yes. Most of our customers want to match the existing siding and shingles that are on their home and we are happy to accommodate that.
Are there specific size garages that are more economical to build?
No. All of our garages are built on site to the specifications requested by each individual customer. The materials required are calculated in advance and as such the amount of waste is limited regardless of dimensions.
Do your prices include site work? How much does site work typically cost?
The advertised prices do not include site work. The cost can vary and depends on many factors including the size of the garage, whether it requires an engineered slab, the slope of the land itself, whether the land is wet or if there are buried organics. A project manager will be happy to provide you with a quote for the site work at your property.
Do I have to use Garages R Us for the site work and structure building itself?
Not necessarily. While it is usually most convenient and economical to use Garages R Us for all aspects of the project we have had projects in the past where a customer wants to do their own site work or wants us to do just the site work. We can accommodate these projects as well.
Are your garages built with an engineered slab?
Garages that are over 600 square feet in size or that have a second floor require an engineered slab. In these cases the engineered slab and all fees associated with it will be included in your quotation price.
How many windows and doors are included with your garages?
Most of our advertised garages include two 36” x 48” single hung vinyl windows and one 32” steel entry door. However, as all of our garages are custom built on site the number and location of windows and doors is a decision that can be made by the customer.
Can you build garages all year?
Yes. The only delay in completing a garage can be in the winter during cold stretches. Concrete requires a specific temperature to hydrate and cure; however, there are many days throughout the winter when the temperature allows us to get a slab poured. Once the slab has been installed we can frame and finish your garage all year around.
Do you work outside the Halifax area?
Garages R Us builds throughout Halifax Regional Municipality and in some surrounding communities. Contact us for more information.
Do you obtain the permits and how long does it take to get a permit?
Yes. Within the Halifax area, Garages R Us obtains the permit process and the fees associated with it are included in your contract price. Outside of the Halifax area, the client is required to obtain their building permit from their municipal authority. We will typically have your permit applied for within a day or two of signing the building contact and the permit usually takes 7-10 days to be processed.
